KFF heads with FOERSTER in new directions

Sensuality and coolness, originality and design – with FOERSTER the company KFF has presented a table innovation in Milan, which is far from the ordinary. And at the same time takes new paths in the language of design! The prototype shown in Milan delighted the international audience most of all with its unusually distinctive frame. Now the company from Lemgo goes even further and launches the production-ready form of the design study which was shown at the Salone del Mobile.

One thing is clear however: the table FOERSTER is different! That is not only apparent from the table top, which is made of recycled oak beams from old timbered houses. But especially the supporting frame with its characteristic, willfully arranged steel legs attracts attention. They seem like the shadow image of a small wood and turn the model into a sculpture.

With FOERSTER the German label puts a table on the market, which offers an usual silhouette apart from the mainstream. In combination with a handmade table-top of historical oak beams something very special has been achieved.

KFF AT THE SALONE DEL MOBILE IN MILAN

German quality work paired with innovations, that are continually being awarded – the label KFF from Lemgo has clearly positioned itself. In Milan KFF showed the new chair MAVERICK next to the prize-winning range UNIQUE as a swivel chair and the table BARBAROSSA with its historic oak beams.

UNIQUE-FAMILY COMPLEMENTED

For the first time KFF showed the swivel chair version of UNIQUE at the Milan design show. The chair model by the design office formmodul has already won several international prizes. In addition to the IF Design Award and the Red Dot Award it received the Interior Innovation Award. On top of that UNIQUE is part of the exhibition Design Germany 2011, which is presented by the Rat für Formgebung (design council) at the FuoriSalone in Milan. Afterwards the show will go the ICFF in New York and in November to the BOWD in Hong Kong. This year Germany is partner country at the Business of Design Week. The experts are always unanimous in their opinions on UNIQUE: The chair UNIQUE succeeds with its perfect design and high precision workmanship. It consists of only a continuous seat and backrest, which is framed at the sides by a cast aluminum frame. This reduction in form lends the chair its simple elegance, which is emphasized by the top-quality leather of the seat and back and the aluminum surface of the frames. Thanks to the new swivel version the chair family is now even better suited for use in the office sector.

250 YEARS OLD BUT NEW

How attractive sustainability can look, is shown by KFF with their newest item, the BARBAROSSA table. A table top made out of old oak beams that are well over 250 years old ( at least). These wooden beams come out of old traditional half-timbered houses that couldn‘t be saved anymore and where they have resisted the German wind and weather for centuries. So once reused and reshaped into a piece of furniture one can truly speak of sheer recycling. With that the enduser can be sure that he has an ecologically and historically valuable piece of furniture. Every table is unique, numbered and issued with a certificate of originality, stating the genuineness of the wood and the table.

However BARBAROSSA is not only convincing with the charm of the past. The table top is well crafted, but the raw robust optics of the old beams remain, such as the cracks and knots of the original oak. The carrying frame underneath is made out of raw solid steel and gives a characteristic contrast to the archean look of the table.

MODERN ARCHETYP

Familiar, but surprisingly modern MAVERICK kicks in. Especially the flared legs give this new design a special twist. In some way this models reminds us of the good old kitchen chair from earlier days, and just that mental click gives it its special charm, since designer Birgit Hoffmann had been able to translate the archetype into a modern up to date form play.

The chair is softly upholstered and owes its seating comfort to the ergonomically pre-shaped shell. Hence originated a small chair of strong character, on which one easily likes to remain seated a bit longer.
